During the Renaissance era, the main concept was that it put human life, security, and religion at the interior. Renaissance literally means “rebirth” and it is a perfect visualization of what the renaissance was. The renaissance was a era of peace and prosperity which gave people a chance to be creative and passionate about their loves in life; whether it be painting or sculpting of theatre or music or any other thing in life. In the renaissance many inventions and discoveries were made. A few examples would be the exploring of continents, Ptolemaic astronomy, the decline of feudal system, paper, printing, the compass, and of course, the use of gunpowder.
The renaissance began in the 1400’s although some historians believe it originated with Frederick the second (1215-1250). If the renaissance didn’t start with Frederick, it was at least anticipated. He was one of the first Christian monarchs of the medieval ages. The renaissance was the revival and emphasized age of classic Roman and Greek literature. Greece and Rome had major impacts and influences on the renaissance era. However, in Italy, the people took it upon themselves to make use of their marvelous opportunity to revive and look back upon their ancient traditions.
There is a term derived from the renaissance period. It is a Renaissance Man. This idiom is a man who has specialties in a wide range of abilities. This description applies to many artists and artisans, but really only two men are Renaissance Men.. Leonardo DeVinci, is exceptional with experimental science and visual arts. But on the artistic side alone, Michelangelo is the artist. He was an artist of sculpture, painting, architecture and poetry. As stated on www.historyworld.net.
…ion of opinion and discovery.
The Protestant Reformation was an implausible feat of wit. It even was foreshadowed in the middle ages. The Waldensians augured the Protestant Reformation. They translated the Latin Bible into their vernacular, and their messengers were preachers who lived in poverty as a kind of propaganda. By the end of the 1300’s, the Waldensians had broken into Catholic Europe. They were absorbed into the major sections of the Protestant Reformation, whose practices they had shown for two hundred years. As described on www.becomingcloser.org.
So all in all, the Renaissance was a time of peace and prosperity, war between religion and science, competition between the gaining of knowledge, and the loss of power in the church. Within this time period, modern language brought about literacy throughout Europe, and education became a focus.
