CM Siddaramaiah's decision to contest elections from two seats may backfire if BJP JD have their way

Congress president Rahul Gandhi yesterday questioned Prime Minister Narendra Modi's "silence" on alleged atrocities on Dalits, and accused him of favouring a handful of industrialists and neglecting the weaker sections.

Reaching out to women ahead of the May 12 Karnataka Assembly polls, Modi said earlier in the day that capable women in his government were given important portfolios. Congress and BJP, have been campaigning in the state for the last few months to impress the voters.

The tweet, accompanied by a video that Rahul Gandhi says "plays like an episode of "Karnataka's Most Wanted", is seen as an effort to corner the BJP leadership that accuses Chief Minister Siddaramaiah of corruption.

The BJP, in its manifesto released for Karnataka elections, made a plethora of promises to reach out to various sections -from farm loan waiver and other sops to farmers, freebies like laptops for students and smartphones for BPL women to a commission for cow protection.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed a public meeting in Tumakuru as per of his campaign for the Karnataka Legislative Assembly.

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) today stated that it will pass a new legislation, if voted to power, to cater to the unique needs of the Karnataka State Capital Bengaluru.

He alleged the Congress was responsible for the backwardness of Tumakuru.

Congress, which was in power in13 states in 2014, now governs only three states and one union territory.

Modi said everyone knows what treatment Congress gave to the two legends. He asked party workers to get people enrolled in Government schemes where lots of facilities are being extended to the beneficiaries.

Ballari is just 50km from Molakalmuru constituency where Janardhana Reddy has been campaigining for his friend B.Sriramulu, a BJP candidate.

Intensifying his attack on the ruling party in the state, the prime minister said the Congress government in Karnataka is working only for "Naamdaars" and not for "Kaamgaars". Both the Congress and the BJP are vying for their votes. "They killed Rohit Vemula and beat up Dalits in Uttar Pradesh and Maharashtra, and yet he remains silent", Gandhi, on his 8th visit to election-bound Karnataka, said. It also said Rs 1.5 lakh crore will be spent on irrigation projects.

Reminding the people about the coalition between the Congress and JD (S) during Bengaluru's mayoral poll previous year, the PM alleged a "tacit alliance" between the two parties.
