The Democratic National Committee (DNC) [political website] filed a lawsuit [complaint] Friday against Donald Trump, Russia, Julian Assange, Wikileaks, and several Trump aids including Donald Trump Jr., Jared Kushner, and Paul Manafort.

The 66-page complaint, filed in federal court in the Southern District of NY, claims that senior members of the Trump campaign conspired with the Russian government to damage Clinton and seeks financial damages for the alleged hacks of the DNC's servers.

Papadopoulos' lawyers declined to comment on the lawsuit the DNC filed against Papadopoulos and others Friday regarding an alleged conspiracy with Russia, while hinting that special counsel Robert Mueller continues to unravel details related to Papadopoulos' involvement with Russians and the campaign and to rely on the former Trump adviser.

While the suit seeks compensation for the "damages and losses" suffered as a result of the hack, putting a financial value on the stolen emails - other than the $1 million the DNC said it cost the organization to re-secure its servers - might prove hard.

Special counsel Robert Mueller has filed charges against multiple former Trump campaign aides stemming from his federal Russian Federation probe. "This can be good news in that we will now counter for the DNC Server that they refused to give to the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Wendy Wasserman Schultz Servers and Documents held by the Pakistani mystery man and Clinton Emails", Trump wrote on Twitter. The lawsuit outlines almost every known communication between Trump advisers and Russians.

The hacking of the DNC has always been a sore spot for Democrats across the board since Clinton's stunning loss in November 2016.

Democrats have similarly been critical of President Barack Obama for not doing enough in 2016 to fight back against Russian Federation. DNC staffer Seth Rich turned over the documents to WikiLeaks.

Trump's campaign and the Republican National Committee did not immediately respond to the lawsuit.

"This frivolous lawsuit is a last-ditch effort to substantiate the baseless Russian collusion allegations by a nearly-bankrupt Democratic Party still trying to counter the will of the people in the 2016 presidential election", a statement issued by Donald J. Trump for President Inc. said.

The president has said repeatedly there was no collusion between his campaign and Russian Federation.

Mueller also has indicted 13 Russian individuals working for the Internet Research Agency accused of running an elaborate scheme to meddle in the USA elections.

Tom Perez, chairman of the DNC, laid out the party's rationale for filing such a wide-reaching lawsuit in a post on Medium.
