Democrats say they want to begin process to impeach Gov. Eric Greitens

Greitens claims prosecutors hid evidence refuting sexual misconduct allegations

Greitens' defense claims 'gross misconduct' by prosecution, asks for judge to drop case

"This woman is not a victim", Greitens' attorney Jim Martin said. This is inconsistent with her statements in the video interview with the Circuit Attorney.

The woman's attorney, Scott Simpson, declined to comment on the defense team's assertions about what is in the video, citing a gag order in the criminal case.

"I think it's going to be awfully hard for him to survive politically", said University of Missouri-Columbia political scientist Peverill Squire.

Attorney General Josh Hawley, a Republican candidate for the U.S. Senate seat held by Democrat Claire McCaskill, said the report "contains shocking, substantial and corroborated evidence of wrongdoing" by the 44-year-old governor. McCaskill herself also called for Greitens' ouster.

But Greitens is vowing to remain in office and prove his innocence against allegations that he denounced as "lies and falsehoods". "This is not a witch hunt", said the speaker. "This is a political witch hunt", he claimed Wednesday.

The legislature needs the support of three-quarters of its members to call themselves in for a special session after the governor's scheduled court trial - a move Republican leadership in both chambers back.

Schaaf drafted a letter to President Trump Thursday asking for assistance in persuading Greitens to resign.

The defense claims Tisaby lied under oath when he said he didn't take notes during his interview with the woman.

The woman told the committee Greitens took a photo of her after manipulating her into a compromising position during an unwanted sexual encounter in his home and told her "everyone will know what a little whore you are" if she told anyone about him.

On Wednesday, the House Committee released a 25-page investigation report into Greitens.

"I think it is conscious to link himself to Trump, but it's a loser". The House would need 82 votes to advance articles of impeachment to the Senate.

But he has denied ever blackmailing her or engaging in other criminal wrongdoing. She said she had a crush on Greitens but was shocked when he ran his hand up her leg and touched her crotch without her consent during a March 2015 hair appointment.

In another meeting, the woman said Greitens asked her whether she had been sexually active with anyone else, including her husband. He then asked if she had exercised and had her change into a white T-shirt with a slit on the top and pajama trousers. She did not turn over the tape until Wednesday night. The woman testified that she then heard a click, like of a cellphone picture, and saw a flash.

A judge's ruling on a request to dismiss an invasion of privacy indictment of Missouri Gov. Eric Greitens stemming from an extramarital affair won't happen before next week. Eric Greitens said, "I want to say again what I have said from the beginning". "There is no possible way, given the credible evidence uncovered by the House committee, that his continued service as Governor will be accepted as legitimate". But he said Greitens' case doesn't cleanly fit that mold, because he's facing bipartisan criticism from lawmakers, including from some who had been among his early supporters. She also said she felt "coerced, maybe" to perform oral sex on him once. "I felt as though that would allow me to leave". "I will continue to serve the people of Missouri as their governor and to work for you every day".

"I mean, for crying out loud", said Walsh. "The testimony outlined in the report is beyond disturbing".

The criminal case against him is more narrowly defined.

The office's filing said Gardner was gathering more information, not withholding information. Her attorney has repeatedly sought anonymity on her behalf.

She told investigators that Greitens forced her into multiple sexual encounters before he launched his gubernatorial bid. Another time, he "smacked me and grabbed me and shoved me down on the ground, and I instantly just started bawling", she said.

The House report contained explosive, hurtful allegations of coercion, violence, and assault.
