Mohamed Salah of Liverpool and Kevin De Bruyne of Manchester City during the Premier League match between Manchester City and Liverpool at Etihad Stadium on September 9, 2017 in Manchester, England.

His assists tally suggests he's not been overly selfish in front of goal and is the firm favourite to win the Golden Boot as he leads a certain Lilywhites striker by four strikes now. The Spanish worldwide has kept 16 clean sheets in the league this season as Jose Mourinho's side look to keep pace with Man City as best they can.

Tottenham Hotspur's Harry Kane has also been nominated, while Manchester United's David de Gea is the only goalkeeper on the list.

Manchester United's De Gea has kept more clean sheets than any other Premier League goalkeeper.

Premier League legend Alan Shearer has given his backing to the Liverpool star to take the top prize and believes the Champions League tie between City and the Merseysiders to be the deciding factor.

Sane, 22, has been nominated in both Player and Young Player of the Year categories as has Kane, a victor in 2015.

City team-mate Sterling has been impressive in front of goal this term, and his 16 league strikes place him joint fourth in the competition.

Sessegnon is the youngest player on the list at 17. He has been instrumental in Fulham's push to reach the Premier League, scoring 14 times in the Championship.
