Bryant Paul praise Lakers' 10-year G League veteran Ingram after NBA debut
Tuesday night's game between the Rockets and the Los Angeles Lakers didn't have much riding on it, but it was the most important game in the world for Andre Ingram.
Andre Ingram waited 10 years for his shot, and when it finally came, he didn't disappoint.
Despite losing to the Rockets 105-99, Lakers coach Luke Walton awarded Ingram the game ball.
Ingram finished with 19 points on 6-of-8 shooting from the floor, with three rebounds, three blocks, an assist, and a steal for good measure.
He spent the first four years of his career with the Utah Flash, the Jazz's affiliate, before joining the Los Angeles D-Fenders, who became the South Bay Lakers when the league was rebranded as the G League this year.
Igram got off to a great start by making his first shot in the National Basketball Association.
"I kept coming back because I genuinely thought I was close", Ingram said. "Once we went out as a team for warm-ups, I just felt some electricity out there".
Ingram went undrafted in 2007 and has played professionally since, mostly in the NBA's Developmental League, with the exception of a stint in Australia.
Paul, who top-scored with 22 points for the Rockets, spoke to Ingram - the subject of MVP chants from Lakers fans - at the scorers' table during the match.
"Once I talked to Magic and everything, I was, I don't know, just emotions were flowing, and I didn't want to stop it", he said, referring to Lakers president Magic Johnson.

Ingram also earned respect from around the world, receiving praise from NBA, MLB, and National Football League players, among many others.
"I told him I heard about his story and that grind is unbelievable", said Paul, according to ESPN.
Ingram and the Lakers will wrap up their season tonight at Staples Center against the Clippers. "10 years grinding in the G League, finally get an opportunity and to play like that, that's pretty special".
