Opposition parties joining hands fearing Modi: Amit Shah
09 April 2018, 12:53 | Lowell Little
BJP national president Amit Shah addresses an Other Backward Classes Convention in Kaginele Karnataka on Tuesday
The BSP supremo Mayawati claimed that the remarks made by Shah proved downfall in the standard of the party under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Amit Shah.
The BJPpresident was referring to the two seats the BJP lost in the recent Uttar Pradesh bypolls.
Speaking at a press conference after the rally, Shah also made overtures to the BJP's bitter ally, Shiv Sena, which has resolved to contest the next election on its own strength. "Parties whose ideologies don't even match are coming together to put up a front, fearing Modi", Shah said. Only a "vatvriksha" (banyan tree) survives and snakes climb onto it, mongoose climb on it, cats climb onto it, dogs climb onto it, cheetah climb onto it and lions climb onto it because of the rising waters.
Replying to a question about relations with its ally Shiv Sena, Shah said, Sena is an ally of the BJP in Centre and in Maharashtra.
"It is shameful. What else do we expect from them".
Shah said the Congress had all along ignored the demands of the farmers but the Modi government has chose to give one and a half times the production cost of rabi and kharif produce to farmers. Shah told the workers that the BJP's golden era will begin when it forms the government in Odisha and West Bengal and returns to power in Delhi next year. BJP will never end the reservation policy. We are privileged to receive the blessings of people of all age groups, across all sections of society.
In a bid to appropriate the legacy of Dalit icons, Shah announced elected representatives of the party have been directed to visit 20,000 villages in their respective constituencies and explain to the people the various pro-poor decisions of the government. "They can not imagine that when we got the opportunity to elect a Deputy Speaker, we selected Shri Suraj Bhan, who belonged to the Dalit community and later Shri Karia Munda, who is a tribal leader". At least three lakh party workers are said to have attended the mega event.
He said that it is because of its work that the BJP has spread its footprint throughout the country. "Though there were ticket checkers in the train, the activists, many of whom were travelling ticketless, refused to pay fine", said a commuter.
