Women manage train, Dharwad railway station

Women will check signals, perform administrative work, check tickets, man the reservation counter and maintain security at the station for the day.

The Danapur division of East Central Railway has chosen to pay tribute to women power by deputing close to 100 women at the railway station.

In his address during the International Women's Day celebrations at the Salem divisional office, Divisional Railway Manager Hari Shankar Verma said one of the railway schools within the jurisdiction of the division would also function as an All-Women Railway School. "Finding TTEs and RPF staff is not a major issue".

(G.N.S) Dt. 08 Mumbai To mark the International Women's Day on Thursday, Indian railways deployed all women ticket checking staff on Mumbai Central-Ahmedabad Shatabdi Express.

This is how Indian Railways, which employs 91,000 women, is carving out a new image of gender equality in its enormous operations.

Divisional Railway Manager of Hubballi Division Rajesh Mohan and other railway officials were present. Motorman Surekha Yadav piloted the train while the guard was Shweta Ghone.

Central Railway (CR) too deployed all-women staff on the popular Deccan Queen Express train that runs between Mumbai and Pune.

Last year, Matunga station on Central Railway (CR) became the first in the country to be managed by all female staffers, a feat that earned it a place in the Limca Book of Records 2018. They have been funded by the South Western Railway Women's Welfare Organization at a cost of Rs.47,000 each.
