Winter Weather Leaves Icy Conditions In County

25 February 2018, 12:21 | Nina Perez

First Alert: Prepare for heavy rainfall the next couple of days

Rain, snow making travel difficult, flooding to the south

The precipitation is forecasted to move to the north, reaching the Oklahoma City metro by Wednesday afternoon and evening. Icy in northern parts of the area. Temperatures will cool to the low 30s, so patches of ice are still possible, and much more likely on untreated, secondary roads. First off, let's just recap the record warmth that we saw Wednesday. Sunday looks dry and mild with highs in the mid 50s.

Thursday night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 22.

All of Southern Oregon woke up this morning to varying degrees of snow after a cold weather system rolled into the region for the second straight night. At the same time, an area of high pressure is building into eastern Canada. High near 35. Northeast wind 6 to 8 miles per hour. Up too a half inch of snow is possible. "And we're expecting temperatures to be in the mid-to-upper 20s during the day tomorrow in Abilene".

The higher amounts could bring down some tree branches and power lines, he said.

The brine mixture will discourage ice from forming on roadways and structures if wintry precipitation begins to fall. Freezing rain late Tuesday night resulted in some light icing in elevated surfaced across Northwest Arkansas. Roads are partially to mostly ice covered in these areas. Once it changes to freezing rain it will stay freezing rain. Temperatures are going to be quite chilly, so when the precipitation begins there could be a bit of sleet or snow.

However, they are more likely to see more freezing rain. There may be another rain system later next week as we continue in a active pattern. We will go back up into the 40s on Friday and into the weekend. It seems a pocket of dry air may try to push in from the north so it's possible there could be a fairly dry period Saturday with perhaps even a couple breaks in the clouds. Mostly cloudy skies will be overhead apart from the snow showers. North wind around 6 miles per hour becoming calm.
