Jos Buttler wants another crack at Australia in Trans-Tasman tri-series

Pacemen Kane Richardson and Billy Stanlake claimed five wickets between them as Australia restricted England to 137 for seven after being sent into bat in the third tri-series Twenty20 worldwide at the Melbourne Cricket Ground on Saturday.

"That's the beauty of a tri-series". Buttler played a key role in England posting 137 for 7 in the allotted 20 overs where the stand-in captain scored 46 off 49. Hopefully we can meet Australia and put on a better show.

Short and new man-in - and centurion last time out - Maxwell continued the onslaught as Australia looked to make light work of England's paltry total.

"He got a little niggle yesterday in training", Buttler said.

In front of 42,000 at the MCG, they were muted from the off and their slender total of 137 never looked like troubling Australia's batsmen.

'It's always nice to win but I wouldn't read too much into us having the wood over them. "We haven't showcased our ability as we know we can and there are guys in that dressing room determined to come back strong".

In the left-hander's absence England's batting was unimpressive on a tricky MCG surface against Australia's varied and accurate attack which skittled New Zealand for 117-9 in Sydney.

And he refused to write England off, adding: "They have a pretty similar team to the ODIs and they smashed us pretty well in that series".

Power openers Jason Roy and Alex Hales departed early which saw momentum grind to a halt. I was hoping to be better than a run-a-ball with five overs to go and then really kick on, but it never happened.

However, three wickets in the next three overs, ending with Warner brilliantly running out Dawid Malan (10) with a direct hit, stopped them in their tracks and they never recovered.

The visitors lost 5 for 18 through their middle order and that could be extended to 6 for 33 if we include the fall of captain Eoin Morgan.

From there Australia's innings accelerated, as D'Arcy Short compiled a fine 36 not out, with Chris Lynn piling on 31 and Maxwell's fluent knock featuring two maximums, as he became the fourth Australian to pass 1,000 T20 global runs.
