Citing "sources", Borges wrote that Brady was planning on holding out from the Patriots' offseason workouts unless he got a big pay raise that was on par with the recent contract Jimmy Garoppolo signed with the San Francisco 49ers.
After the story went up this morning, Kirk & Callahan at WEEI exposed Borges by tweeting out the text chain.
The Boston Herald has pulled an article from veteran sportswriter Ron Borges and suspended his regular columns, the paper announced on Friday, after a story about a money-hungry Tom Brady turned out to be false.
The Globe suspended Borges March 5 for lifting numerous passages from a February 25 article written by Mike Sando of The News Tribune in Tacoma, Wash. for one of his Sunday Globe "Football notes" columns.
