The Surge 2 coming to PC and consoles in 2019
The sequel doesn't yet have a specific release date but the announcement post also confirmed that Deck13 and Focus Home Interactive are now planning to release it sometime in 2019.
The Surge 2 will keep the hardcore combat utilizing a unique, dynamic limb targeting system and deep character progression but the dev also plan to expand on the formula.
Information on "The Surge's" official game forums sheds some light on what to expect from the new title.
Publisher Focus Home Interactive today announced that it is once again joining forces with Deck 13 for The Surge 2, which will release on consoles and PC. The game was considered a spiritual successor to the developers' earlier action RPG "Lords of the Fallen", with which it shares some similarities and gameplay features. But the game proved very popular among fans, and even received critical praise.
If you are among those who have enjoyed The Surge, there is a good news for you. Add this to the promise of more abilities, weapons, implants, drones, customisation options and I'm pretty excited-despite the fact we've nothing else to go on beyond the header image above.
Development of "The Surge" first started in August 2015 and the pre-alpha gameplay footage was first released to the public in March 2016.
It debuted in May 2017 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC, and while it made a brief blip on the radar, the community was largely quiet about it throughout the rest of the year. The game has also been developed with some Nvidia GameWorks integration.
