He and his longtime girlfriend Cherry Seaborn are engaged!

Writing to his 19 million followers, Sheeran, 26, said: "Got myself a fiancée just before new year".

The singer shared the news via his Instagram page Saturday, saying they are both "very happy and in love" and that their cats are also excited.

The pair attended Thomas Mills High School in Framlingham, and have been dating for around two-and-a-half-years. The pair tend to keep their romantic life very private.

"Shape of You" singer Ed Sheeran announced that he is now engaged! "Yeah I feel pretty good about it" and added that he'd "love" to start a family with his old school pal.

Sheeran previously opened up about how Swift's annual party was when he and Cherry wound up having their first date.

Prior to leaving the US, Seaborn worked as an Advisory Consultant for Deloitte & Touche LLP in NY. On being asked if his relationship with Cherry has the potential to become a "marriage thing", the pop star replied, "I'm pretty..."

The couple are childhood sweethearts and have known each other for years.

We think it's safe to assume Sheeran's chart-topping love songs are about this lucky lady.

During an interview a year ago he also sang Seaborn's praises, saying: "It's awesome meeting famous people".

2017 was quite the rollercoaster of a year for Ed Sheeran.

In 2015, X also won the Brit Award for Album of the Year, and Sheeran received the Ivor Novello Award for Songwriter of the Year. "Mostly, like, substance abuse", Sheeran continued.
