Ford Ranger unveiled in Detroit

Detroit Auto Show: The 2019 Ford Ranger is a high tech little truck
Although the new 2019 Ford Ranger looks a lot like the truck sold in the rest of the world outside North America, the model being unveiled in Detroit features a number of changes to make it suitable for the USA market.
The 2019 Ford Ranger answers the call with an all-new midsize pickup featuring a new exterior design, chassis and powertrain developed specifically for North American truck customers.
Ford eliminated its compact truck the Ranger from its lineup in the USA during 2011 saying it was because customers were no longer interested enough in buying small trucks. The all-new Ranger is designed for todays midsize truck buyer, delivering even more utility, capability and technology for those who blend city living with more off-the-grid adventures on weekends..
"Ranger has always held a special place in the hearts of truck fans", said Hau Thai-Tang, Ford executive vice president, Product Development and Purchasing. The trim options available are the XL, XL Chrome, STX, LT, XLT Chrome, XLT Sport, Lariat, Lariat Chrome and Lariat Sport. Analysts say that the buyers for a midsize truck are more interested in sports or off-roading while the full-size truck buyer usually uses the vehicle for work. It has been modified to pass US safety standards and suit customer preferences. The engine will have a 10-speed automatic transmission and it will provide two or four-wheel drive configurations.
It's absence has been felt by fans in the USA, while sales of other manufacturers' mid-sized trucks, such as the Chevy Colorado, forced Ford into rethink. It also has a Terrain Management System featuring five driving modes: Normal; Grass; Sand; Gravel and Snow; and Mud and Ruts. The Lariat will also be available with optional Pedestrian Detection and Adaptive Cruise Control. The FX4 package will come with standard automatic emergency braking.
The Nissan Navara, Mitsubishi Triton and Isuzu D-Max are also due for minor model-year updates.
Inside, the cabin appears fairly unchanged, with the same 8.0-inch Sync3 infotainment and dual-digital TFT driver instrument panel shown, but Amazon's Alexa personal assistant and 4G LTE for 10-spot WiFi will be offered in U.S. models.
The Ranger also will have a blind-spot information system with sensors that can extend their line of sight to the back of a trailer up to 33 feet long.
It doesn't take a rocket scientist to understand that trucks are a big business here in the United States.
