Bears' loss to Vikings one last failure in John Fox's likely finale

Minnesota was dominating on defense, as has become the calling card of these Vikings, holding Chicago to 201 yards of offense - most of it in the second half when the result was no longer in doubt. Then, with just over two minutes to play, the Vikings mustered a goal line stand, stopping Trubisky's fourth-down pitch to Cohen at the 1-yard line.

Trubisky also took a safety in the second quarter on an intentional grounding call when Danielle Hunter and Linval Joseph closed in on a sack in the end zone and he side-armed a throw between the two pass rushers.

The only question heading into the last game of the year against the Chicago Bears is where the Vikings would be seeded in the NFL. Flea-flickers, double-reverses, halfback passes - the Bears can pretty much unload anything in their bag of tricks in the season finale. The Vikings quickly marched down the field on an eight-play drive capped by a 1-yard touchdown for Latavius Murray. He leaped to his feet and veered left past the confused Vikings and untouched for the score.

The Vikings' defense entered Week 17 holding opponents to a 26.3 percent conversion rate on third down, which is the best mark in the National Football League in the past 15 seasons, according to ESPN Stats & Info. But while the Vikings could still lean on a running game that churned out 147 yards on 36 attempts, the Bears had no such success. Randy Moss and Cris Carter are the only ones ahead on either list. The Vikings on Sunday were without starting center Pat Elflein, who was sidelined with a lingering shoulder injury. Joe Berger will move over to center from right guard and Jeremiah Sirles will replace Easton, who is out of the season. Chicago was without regular offensive linemen Bobby Massie and Josh Sitton. After he was injured, though, it looked bad as Case Keenum took over at quarterback.
