"Obama has now been named the most admired man 10 times, trailing only Dwight Eisenhower, who earned the distinction 12 times".

Gallup's December poll found 17% of respondents named Obama the man they admired most, a dip from 22% of respondents saying the same a year ago.

Former President Obama may be out of sight, but he isn't out of mind with respondents of Gallup's annual "Most Admired Man" poll.

We can expect some angry tweets directed at Gallup about how its pollsters called the 2016 election wrong any minute now.

Clinton came in at 9 percent, which was her lowest since 2002 when she received 7 percent. "The incumbent president is the usual victor, since he is arguably the most prominent figure in the country", Gallup reports.

While Obama tops the Most Admired Men list, Hillary Clinton has topped the Most Admired Woman list. Rounding out the top 10 for the men were Pope Francis, Rev. Billy Graham, John McCain, Elon Musk, Bernie Sanders, Bill Gates, Benjamin Netanyahu, Jeff Bezos, The Dalai Lama, and Mike Pence.

Gallup explains that Trump's unpopularity is likely what's holding him back from winning the most admired distinction.

Gallup, however, offered that Clinton's time at the top of the "most admired" list may be running out.

The poll was conducted from 4-11 December among 1,049 American adults from all 50 states and the District of Columbia, and has a margin of sampling error of ±4 percentage points at the 95% confidence level.

Overall, she has held the title 22 times, more than any other woman-or man, for that matter. That means she has won the title more than any other woman, with Eleanor Roosevelt coming in second with 13 wins. "The incumbent president has won 58 of those times. But the likelihood that she will continue to hold that honor in future years seems less certain, with her popularity at a nadir and the percentage naming her as most admired the lowest in 15 years", it stated.
