US Security Adviser Potential for War with N. Korea Increasing Every Day

White House national security adviser HR McMaster says the United States is in a race to address the threat from North Korea.

"I think it's increasing every day", McMaster told Fox News' Bret Baier at the Reagan National Security Forum in California.

South Korea's military believes that the latest missile, which flew 950 kilometers before splashing down in waters near Japan, is potentially capable of striking targets as far as 13,000 kilometers, which would put Washington within reach.

The launch was a message of defiance to President Donald Trump's administration, which a week earlier had restored North Korea to a USA list of terror sponsors.

DONALD Trump's national security adviser said the possibility of war with North Korea increases "every day" as the rogue nation said America was "begging for war".

His comments came three days after North Korea carried out its first ballistic missile test in two months, in defiance of United Nations resolutions.

That sparked a strong rebuke Friday from Russia's Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov.

Trump is "staging an extremely risky nuclear gamble on the Korean peninsula", a Foreign Ministry spokesman said in a written statement that also calls Trump a "nuclear demon" and a "disruptor of global peace".

It was nearly 10 times more powerful than the 10-kiloton test carried out by the North previous year, according to South Korean experts.

"If somebody is very eager to use force to wipe out North Korea, as the United States' U.N. envoy said, it was a very bloodthirsty tirade", Russian news agencies quoted Lavrov as saying at a Rome news conference with his Italian counterpart.

"We are trying in the Security Council to find a way to make (North Korea) change its policy and that is a role we play here and that is the role that I will be playing as president of the Security Council".

While condemning the latest test, the Kremlin's Peskov said: "We hope that all the sides involved are able to preserve calm, which is so necessary to avoid the situation on the Korean peninsula sliding towards a worst-case scenario".

Vice Chairman Pak Kwang-Ho of the party's decision-making Central Committee told the crowd that, after Wednesday's test launch, "now no one can infringe our sovereignty and rights to survive and develop", according to the daily. "U.N. Security Council measures".

The isolationist state recently tested a new intercontinental ballistic missile that, it claimed, could reach anywhere on the USA mainland.
