Football fans happy with Nigeria's group

World Cup Group D: Argentina, Iceland, Croatia, Nigeria

It's the fifth time that the Super Eagles will be playing Argentina in the group phase of the World Cup since their first appearance at U.S. 1994.

Completesportsnigeria.com brings you excerpts from the Kremlin Palace in here Moscow on Friday at the venue of the World Cup draw...

Federation Internationale de Football Association conducted the World Cup draw in Friday, not only setting groups, matchups and schedules but also creating a number of intriguing storylines.

African giants Egypt, who reached the world cup finals for the first time since 1990 and South American powerhouse, Uruguay are the other teams in group A.

Nigeria will face Croatia on June 17, 2018 in the first group game, they will then tackle Iceland six days later while the game against Argentina will be on June 27.

Nigeria's other win over the two-time world champions was also in a friendly - 4-1 in Abuja in June 2011.

Iceland made history by becoming the smallest nation to qualify for the Mundial earlier this year, and they've already shown what they are capable of in the big tournaments by eliminating England in last year's European championship.

In Group H which has one of the african representatives (Poland, Senegal, Colombia, Japan) there is very 50-50 chance that Senegal will be one of the two teams that will successfully scale the qualification huddle in the group.

Speaking with the NationSports on Wednesday, the coach of the Super eagles, Rohr believes that Nigeria is ready to face any teams in Russian Federation.

When asked about Maradona's remarks, Sampaoli said: "I hope we have the possibility during this time to train and play better". We could play a friendly against Serbia, who play a similar football to Croatia. Spain were thumped 5-1 by the Netherlands while Portugal were routed 4-0 by eventual champions Germany.

In Korea/Japan 2002, the Super Eagles were placed in Group F alongside Argentina, England and Sweden. All fingers will be crossed for that particular encounter knowing full well that the Nigeria national team beat Argentina 3-1 in a historic friendly match. "World Cup baby", Balogun wrote.
