Gabby Douglas Releases New Statement on Abuse Allegations Against Larry Nassar

USA Gymnastics, the sport's governing body, fired Nassar in 2015 which is when it said it was made aware of the abuse.

In a statement after the plea in court on Wednesday, Vassar's attorneys, Matt Newburg and Shannon Smith, said that the "agreement resolves all the charged and uncharged conduct for more than 125 cases now under investigation by the Michigan Attorney General's office".

The victims are demanding answers from the people who protected Nassar. The university says its campus and the FBI investigated earlier this year, and the school has "no reason to believe" that any employee other than Nassar committed a crime.

He's also been accused of sexual abuse by more than 130 other women, including Olympic medalists Aly Raisman, Gabby Douglas, and McKayla Maroney.

Attorney John Manly criticized an internal probe being conducted at Michigan State and urged the state attorney general to reconsider not expanding his criminal probe to include school officials who allegedly knew of Nassar's misconduct. He served as the USA Gymnastics physician through four Olympic Games.

Some of his accusers attended the hearing Wednesday in a packed Ingham County courtroom.

The girls have testified that Nassar molested them with his hands, sometimes when a parent was present in the room, while they sought help for gymnastics injuries. All but one was a gymnast.

"You used your position of trust in the most vile way".

He faces up to 25 years in prison. But the judge could go higher and set the minimum at 40 years.

Sentencing was set for January 12.

According to CNN, as of July, Nassar has been charged with a total of "22 counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct and 11 counts of third-degree criminal sexual conduct at the state level".

Nassar is also awaiting sentencing on Monday on federal charges of receiving and possessing child pornography and attempted destruction of evidence to which he pled guilty in June. He is facing similar charges in the MI area, which have been filed by more than 125 women and girls.
