Fresno reached 76 degrees in the 3 o'clock hour Wednesday, according to the National Weather Service. Temperatures are expected to drop just a few degrees, but it'll still be about 20-25 degrees higher than the average in many communities.

The current record for Sunday (November 26) is 72° set in 1998.

Sheridan, Wyoming; Livingston; and Miles City; along with many other locations across Eastern Montana, have a chance of setting records this afternoon.

Some heat records for a November 21 were set in Los Angeles County Tuesday, including 91 in Burbank, topping the 88 set in 2002; 91 in Woodland Hills, besting the 89 set in 2002; and 74 in Sandberg, compared to 70 in 1995.

Wednesday and Thursday are expected to be the hottest days of the week.

Temperatures soared into the 90s from Los Angeles to San Diego and up the Central Coast to the Bay Area on Wednesday, while much of the rest of the state basked in unseasonably balmy weather.

As for Thanksgiving Day itself, the west San Fernando Valley will probably be the hottest area in the L.A. region, Sirard said. Sheridan beat a previous record high by reaching into the low 70s on Thursday. Long Beach is expected to top out at 89 degrees; the record high was 85 in 1990.

After a frosty start, Acadiana will get to enjoy another sunny and seasonably cool day, but afternoon temperatures will be milder as compared with Thanksgiving. A shower or two may precede its passage later in the day, but Saturday will still probably be the better weekend day in terms of sunshine and temperatures.
