President Trump is defending Alabama GOP Senate nominee Roy Moore who has been accused by multiple women of sexual assaulting them when they were teenagers and Moore was in his 30s.
"Let me just tell you: Roy Moore denies it".
"We don't need a liberal Democrat in that seat", Trump said.
Trump signaled his support for Moore by saying he has looked at Democrat Doug Jones' record and, "it's awful on crime, it's bad on the border, it's awful on the military".
Stopping short of a full-throated endorsement of Moore-Trump did endorse Moore's opponent Luther Strange in the Republican primaries-the president said he'd reveal more information about campaigning with the candidate next week. "And by the way, he totally denies it". Two have accused him of assault or molestation; he vehemently denies it.
Trump additionally failed to rule out the possibility that he might campaign for Moore.
"He says it didn't happen, and you know, you have to listen to him also", he added.
Far from condemning Moore or telling him to get out of the race, Trump's comments amount to an all-but-endorsement of the controversial former Alabama state Supreme Court chief justice.
President Donald Trump is not known for being shy when it comes to hot-button political questions.
"Women are very special..." Seeking to tap into some conservative voters' distrust of the media, they called the accusations "fake news" pushed by the "liberal media and Republican establishment".
Trump also hit at Moore's rival Doug Jones - a 63-year- old US Attorney who is now ahead 47 per cent to 42 per cent in the polls.
"By the way, he gives a total denial, and I do have to say 40 years is a long time". "He will be a vote against tax cuts".
Alone with Corfman, Moore chatted with her and asked for her phone number, she says. "He's awful for property owners". The October 2016 release of the "Access Hollywood" tape revealed that Trump bragged in in 2005 that he could grope and forcibly kiss women without their consent.
Again, that runs directly counter to the message from many establishment Republicans - that it isn't worth sacrificing principle exclusively to hold control of a single Senate seat.
"He denies it", Trump told reporters at the White House.
