Monster Hunter: World beta starts in December — and PS4 players get special surprise

Monster Hunter World- Horizon

Monster Hunter: World is one of the most anticipated games coming out next year and Capcom has made a decision to whet the appetite of fans by showing off a new trailer during Paris Games Week. It will be interesting to see if Aloy has any unique abilities in the game, or if she is basically a playable skin. First a beta will run exclusively for PlayStation Plus members from December 9-12.

BETA INCOMING! The PS4 beta test for Monster Hunter World is slated for December!

Seen in the trailer below, Aloy takes on her signature outfit as she tackles dragons and other monsters - that, frankly, aren't too much bigger than the ones she would take on in her own game.

The beta version will require players to hunt for "a Great Jagras and an Anjanath in the Ancient Forest, and a Barroth in the Wildspire Waste", according to Sony's post.

The crossover, which was announced today during Sony's Paris Games Week conference, brings Alloy's bow and full armor set to Monster Hunter World. Capcom has promised to release more information about the DLC as the game's launch date draws near. Loot collected from fallen foes can be used to create new equipment and armor upgrades styled after the monsters they've slain, allowing hunters to survive the elements and defeat the tougher opponents that await them.

Monster Hunter: World is out for PS4 and Xbox One on January 26 with PC coming later.
