Panthers fan caught on video repeatedly punching man in face arrested by Charlotte police

NFL Investigating Horrific Panthers Fan Assault

Kyle Adam Maraghy, 26, was charged with simple assault and taken to Mecklenburg Jail in Charlotte, North Carolina, where he is being held on $1,500 bond.

After being released from Mecklenburg County jail on Friday night, Maraghy did not comment when asked about the incident by Stephanie Tinoco of WSOC9.

PREVIOUS: Charlotte, N.C. - The NFL is investigating a fight that happened during Thursday night's game between the Philadelphia Eagles and Carolina Panthers.

He added, "That's what the 15 seconds didn't show", with regard to the video of the altercation posted on Instagram. He said that a man wearing a Panthers jersey and a woman standing next to him were both standing up for the entire game.

The video of a Panthers fan punching another fan during the game went viral on Friday.

According to Instagram user odubco of Greensboro, the man in the Panthers jersey and the woman with him were standing during the game, the fan behind him "took offense to the couple never sitting down and obstructing his view" and it escalated from there.




The video shows the sucker-punch in action.

The team announced Friday it had identified the perpetrator in the video and was working with the CMPD. "The Carolina Panthers are committed to a fan-friendly and family-friendly stadium experience".

Maraghy's attorney told Channel 9 that the man who was punched was the instigator.

The victim, a 62-year-old man who has not been publicly identified, was treated for minor injuries in the stadium, police said.

The fans has been identified by the team as the Panthers and the National Football League continue to investigate the incident. The assailant was seated in section 541, row 24, seat 10.
