Sadio Mane on Ballon D'Or shortlist

Mane Out For Six Weeks To Miss Liverpool Vs Man United

The dreaded worldwide break has struck again, and Liverpool have been hit by a major injury blow.

Mane picked up the problem on worldwide duty with Senegal and was withdrawn late on in Saturday's 2-0 World Cup qualifying triumph over Cape Verde.

Liverpool have now confirmed that Mane has suffered a significant hamstring injury and will be out of action fro up to six weeks while he recovers.

Mane has netted three goals for the Reds so far this season and is behind just Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino in the scoring charts. The six-week time-frame rules him out of seven Liverpool matches, with a Champions League clash at Sevilla and a Premier League match with Chelsea following swiftly after.

The bad news is that Liverpool will face Manchester United on Saturday without attacking star Sadio Mané.

Liverpool average 2.2 Premier League goals with Mane in the team, compared to 1.6 goals in his absence, while he played for his country at the Nations Cup last January.

Mane was included in the 30-man shortlist for the 2017 Ballon D'or which was released on Monday.

The 25-year-old Mane has already missed three matches this term after being shown a straight red card for catching Manchester City goalkeeper Ederson with a high boot in last month's fixture.
