Recently, Russian military officials took their case one step further by releasing satellite images which they believe show the uncontested mobility and stationing of USA special forces throughout and within ISIS-held territory despite being within the visual presence of jihadist militants.

Russia denied the accusation and a spokesman for the US -led coalition in Syria said that while rounds hit the SDF forces, it could not confirm that the fire came from Russian forces.

In exchanges last week, each side accused the other of targeting and injuring their troops, but no deaths were reported.

Ryabkov and Colonel Ryan Dillon, a spokesman for the USA coalition, said military-to-military communications were continuing.

"The Russian bombing is not surprising, since its policy since its intervention in Syria is based on criminality and killing", he added.

Nauert denied that and called the Russian accusations "untrue and unhelpful", but said the United States would continue de-confliction efforts aimed at avoiding deadly incidents.

Russian airstrikes have killed 45 members of a regime opposition group in the north-western Syrian province of Idlib on Saturday, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights monitor has said.

Earlier this month, the Pentagon said Russian Federation bombed a position east of the Euphrates River where it knew SDF fighters and coalition advisers were stationed.

"Unmanned aerial vehicles were used".

After several months of calm, Idlib province has for the past two weeks been the target of heavy air strikes by the regime and its Russian allies, following an extremist assault in neighbouring Hama province also covered by the de-escalation accord for Syria's war that has cost more than 330,000 lives since 2011.

Earlier in September, Syrian government troops supported by the Russian Aerospace Forces lifted the siege around Deir ez-Zor that had been maintained for long by Daesh.

The news comes after the SDF accused Russian Federation of attacking their positions near gas fields in Deir ez-Zor, killing and wounding several militants.
