Trump uses London 'terror' attack to promote his 'Muslim ban'

Trump denounces 'loser terrorist' after London attack

Trump blasts 'loser terrorists' behind London train attack

"The travel ban into the United States should be far larger, tougher and more specific-but stupidly, that would not be politically correct!" he wrote on Twitter.

"Another attack in London by a loser terrorist", the U.S. president tweeted.

A bucket wrapped in an insulated bag caught fire on a packed London subway train Friday, sending commuters stampeding in panic at the height of the morning rush hour. The Metropolitan Police went further, saying in a statement that the tweets "are unhelpful and pure speculation".

According to The New York Times, Trump's tweets only add to the strain that's been buckling the USA and UK's special relationship.

With each half-baked tweet that comes out of his phone, Donald Trump chips away at the credibility of the presidency as an institution.

He did not immediately offer condolences to the British people.

McMaster didn't answer directly at a White House briefing whether Trump was revealing an intelligence assessment or whether he was just speculating. Police said the explosion was a terrorist attack, the fifth in Britain this year.

Police said they were treating the explosion as a "terrorist incident" and have launched an "urgent manhunt" for the suspect.

Mr Trump wasn't responsible, of course, but U.S. secretary of state Rex Tillerson was dispatched to London to head off a full-blown diplomatic row after intelligence sharing was briefly suspended.

"I think he means generally this kind of activity is what we're trying to prevent", McMaster told reporters Friday. "It keeps going and going, and we have to be very smart and we have to be very, very tough - perhaps we're not almost tough enough".

Stephanopoulos asked May if a travel ban is something she would reconsider in light of Friday's terror attack. We need the courts to give us back our rights.

Trump's travel ban has been ensnared in the courts since Trump's first attempt to enact the policy in January. He tweeted that he would like to expand the travel ban in the country. His post comes ahead of a key Supreme Court hearing next month on the constitutionality of his executive order on the ban.
