U.S. President Donald Trump wants to scrap the trade deal with South Korea amid threats against the DPRK

Mr Putin called for talks with North Korea, and warned against "military hysteria". Trump's military, diplomacy and intelligence chiefs were to brief Congress later Wednesday.

U.S. Ambassador to the U.N. Nikki Haley has dismissed the Russian-Chinese roadmap, saying the United States is "done talking about North Korea".

Russian president Vladimir Putin has condemned North Korea's latest nuclear test as "provocative".

The South Korean ministry said the extra interceptors would help the country brace for a possible crisis stemming from Pyongyang's nuclear and missile programs.

It stressed that the deployment is a temporary move to counter the North's nuclear and missile threats.

Mr Putin told him the North Korean problem should be solved diplomatically, according to Seoul's presidential office.

Putin said the nuclear test "flagrantly violates" worldwide law.

Speaking after a meeting Wednesday with the president of close USA ally, South Korea, Putin urged support for a Russian-Chinese roadmap that seeks a North Korean nuclear freeze in exchange for the US and South Korea curbing military drills.

Following North Korea's repeated provocations-including launching a missile over northern Japan last week and a sixth nuclear test on Sunday-Moon appeared significantly more comfortable with the presence of the USA system over South Korea's skies. Moon also called for a ban on overseas North Korean workers - many of them in China and Russian Federation - who provide foreign currency to the North.

In an interview with the Russian news agency Tass on Tuesday, Mr Moon said he believes now is not the time for talks and it is important for the worldwide community to strengthen pressure against Pyongyang.

South Korea's defense ministry said the four remaining batteries of the THAAD system would be deployed on a golf course in the south of the country today.

Leftist South Korean president Moon Jae-in opposed the further implementation of the THAAD system without further government inspection of, among other priorities, the environmental effect of installing it as a candidate.
