TaylorSwift didn't just release a new single this week; she kicked off a meticulous campaign to get die-hard fans involved in the collective experience of buying things from TaylorSwift. Adding insult to injury, Nicki Minaj is a featured guest on the track and in the video - and she has her own heated history with Swift. Following the release of her newest single, the female singer is selling snake-inspired accessories in her online store.
The 27-year-old singer dropped the upbeat song "Look What You Made Me Do" - which uses an interpolation from Right Said Fred's 1991 hit "I'm Too Sexy" - late Thursday to streaming platforms and iTunes.
Kim Kardashian may have used a filtering tool to stop the snakes, which was ironically created for Taylor Swift past year.
"Famous"-gate began when West seemed to jokingly claim on that Life of Pablo song, "I made that bitch famous", a misogynistic statementSwift took issue with".
"I'm sorry, but the old Taylor can't come to the phone right now. Why? Oh ..."
For most of this week, the entire world (yes, you included) was captivated by speculation as to what Taylor Swift's mysterious social media blackout-cum-snake teaser video stunt would eventually lead to. Clearly her current rebirth is a much darker one, as she has wiped away any sign of her former persona on Twitter, Instagram, Facebook and all her other public platforms. "'Cause she's dead." More than a little on the nose, but at least there's no ambiguity there. It's the most cutting song from Swift to date, even despite her lengthy catalog of bitter ballads and breakup songs. The basic idea is, as the peppy voiceover declares, to "beat the bots" to the business of buying the best seats, an ongoing frustration for fans of Swift and/or anyone else who routinely sells out shows.
