BSE Sensex traded higher on Wednesday
Markets in Europe were lower Thursday as uncertainty surrounding internal US policy continued to weigh on investor sentiment despite lessening tensions from North Korea. Infosys closed higher by 4.83% at Rs 1,022.30 per share. The BSE Sensex settled 24.57 points, or 0.08 per cent, up at 31,795.46. Infosys, HDFC, and Vedanta were the top gainers on both indices, while Bajaj Auto, HUL, Power Grid and Zee Entertainment lost the most.
Information technology also gained.
The Nifty is trading at 9,819.25 points in the morning.
At 12.45 p.m., it rose by 26.55 points or 0.27 per cent to trade at 9,923.85 points.
Currency markets and banks are shut today on the account of Parsi New Year. "Infosys buyback is a very good thing for other IT companies", said AK Prabhakar, head of research, IDBI Capital. Trading window on the scrip has been closed and will resume only on August 22.

The Nifty50 of the National Stock Exchange (NSE) traded above the psychologically important 9,900-level. "Metals, Pharma and banking stocks saw a recovery". The Sensex was up by 321.86 points or 1.02 per cent at the Wednesday's closing.
Australia's benchmark S&P/ASX 200 index slid 0.10 percent, or 5.902 points, to close at 5,779.200, as gains in the materials and health care sub-indexes were balanced by losses in the telecommunication services sub-index.
Nifty too was leading in the green by 0.25% to 9921.80. Coal India shares rise over 4%, Infosys shares rise over 3%, Bharti Airtel shares rise 1.98%.
