Gaza Rocket Explodes in Southern Israel

Senator Booker Wrong on Funding Terror

Seven Palestinians were injured and moved to a city hospital where one of them was reported in critical condition.

Israel, however, has blamed the islamist Hamas movement, which controls the palestinian enclave, and bombard usually the bases of its military wing in retaliation.

Sirens were sounded in the southern Israeli city of Ashkelon Tuesday evening in response to a rocket launched from Gaza.

On Tuesday evening, warning sirens blared in southern Israel as the rocket from the Gaza Strip was sacked into the country. Two people were seriously wounded and another sustained light injuries, local media reported. The rocket hit an open field in the regional council of Hof Ashkelon in southern Israel, causing no injuries or damage.

In addition, the air force also fired missiles into a site, north of Beit Lahia, in the northern part of the Gaza Strip, causing excessive damage to the building, and several surrounding homes.

The airstrikes came after Israel claimed a rocket fired from Gaza has landed in the Israeli town of Asqalan.

Despite the tensions over Jerusalem's Temple Mount this summer, there have been only a few instances of rocket fire from Gaza landing in Israel.
