Eye-Tracking Support Headed to Windows 10

Microsoft releases Windows 10 S to developers

Windows 10 S devices now available but you can test it too

The new default colors will modernize the look of the Windows Console and make it more congruent with other terminal experiences, such as the integrated terminal in VSCode. Microsoft has released many such updates, including three major ones: November Update, Anniversary Update, and Creators Update.

Native eye tracking technology is planned for use on Windows 10, Microsoft have announced.

The new features in Build 16257 include a beta of Microsoft's eye-tracking feature, which the company introduced this week, improvements for Microsoft Edge, the Console and Windows Defender Application Guard, as well as support for 3D in Office applications.

Users with a compatible eye tracking device (which right now means certain hardware from Tobii) can control their PC and even type just by looking at the relevant spot onscreen.

Not all cameras work with Windows' Eye Control, however, and Tobii's own Eye Tracker 4C will be the first one to support the new feature. However, it all gets down to the eye-tracking hardware supported.

Edge: Edge too has received a very modern look as the company has applied the Fluent design to its app browser.

While Eye Control sounds like a fun new way to operate your laptop, Microsoft is positioning it as a more important tool.

The Windows 10 S code is now available to Visual Studio subscribers in 32-bit and 64-bit, and Microsoft plans to make these ISO files available to Windows Education edition customers at some point this week, ZDNet said. When you click in the address bar now, the cursor stays at the position you clicked on and does not shift anymore as "http://" is added to the address. In a bid to improve the legibility of darker colors on modern display screens, the tech giant is giving the Console's default colors their first overhaul in more than two decades. It is not a surprise given that Microsoft is struggling with its Windows Phone.

Input: Talking about the input improvements, the bugs in Japanese keyboard and dictation is now resolved while the touch keyboard now starts immediately from the taskbar. Bugs related to dictation and Japanese keyboards were also squashed.

WDAG, on the other hand, now boasts fixes to multiple technical networking and registry issues, "significant improvements" to container launch times and new status strings that provide more information about that startup stages for WDAG. For a full list of fixes and known issues in this build, as well Build 16257 for PC users, you can read the notes in Microsoft's blog post.
