The broader NSE Nifty ended up 0.37 percent at 10,114.65, while the benchmark BSE Sensex closed 0.19 percent higher at 32,575.17.

Meanwhile, the Nifty auto index rose as much as 1.2 per cent to hit a record high, on expectations of higher sales numbers from Indian automakers in July.

Sentiments were also positive ahead of the RBI's third bi-monthly policy meeting which is scheduled on 2 August where the central bank is expected to slash the benchmark repo rates.

Overall, 71 stocks including Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone, Ashok Leyland, Bajaj Holdings & Investment, BEML and Eicher Motors hit their fresh 52-week high on NSE, while 37 stocks including Adlabs Entertainment, CRISIL, Dr. Reddy's Laboratories, Lupin and New Delhi Television Limited hit their new 52-week low.

The Nifty rallied 23.95 points or 0.23 per cent to a new record high of 10,101.05, knocking off its previous intra-day high of 10,085.90 it touched yesterday fuelled by strong corporate earnings and positive global developments.

USA stocks ended mixed overnight as stable oil prices, strong earnings reports and subdued sovereign bond yields helped investors shrug off political and geopolitical tensions. Growth in China's manufacturing quickened in July, a private survey showed, as output and new orders rose at the fastest pace since February on strong export sales. The index ended the day 168 points higher at 11,170, with Apollo Tyres (down 0.19 per cent) as the solitary loser.

Shares of Larsen and Toubro surged by 2.85 per cent after the company posted a 46 per cent cent jump in consolidated net profit for the June quarter.

The BSE consumer durable goods starred in the rally by surging 1.86%, followed by metal and PSU.

Foreign portfolio investors (FPIs) net sold shares worth Rs 1,196.94 crore while DIIs bought shares worth Rs 1,768.43 crore yesterday, showed provisional data.
