Legendary Pokemon are coming to Pokemon GO this week

Pokemon Go Safari

It has always been rumored that the incredibly powerful Legendary Pokemon are coming to "Pokemon GO".

Legendary Pokemon will, according to the official post, be able to take on raid bosses and gyms, but won't be able to defend gyms themselves. With the amount of content that has been recently added to Pokemon GO, especially coming so late after its initial release, you could argue the anniversary marks the real launch of the mobile Pokemon trainer exploration adventure game.

It's unclear what will happen if efforts to unlock the first Legendary fail this weekend. Now, players can simply visit their Pokemon's info screen to feed them berries from afar.

A Legendary Victory Emblem was also seen as it featured the outline for the psychic Pokemon Lugia. If it is defeated, legendary Pokemon will begin to appear in Raid Battles around the world. "If the Trainers in Chicago succeed in defeating the Legendary Pokemon, that Pokemon will start appearing in Raid Battles around the world, after Pokemon GO Fest".

Previously, we knew that the very first Pokemon GO Fest event would give players rare prizes for capturing monsters and doing raids.

Attendees, both at the event and at home, will be able to participate in a variety of activities, including three "Challenge Windows" that have players work together to catch a certain amount of Pokemon. Previously, players could only gorge their prized fighter on food if they were in close proximity to the Gym itself, but that limitation no longer remains. A new trailer (above) shows players receiving a special invitation for a Legendary Raid.

After over a year of waiting Pokémon GO will finally be getting Legendary Pokémon, starting July 22nd and coinciding with Pokémon GO Fest in Chicago's Grant Park.

Soon, you will have the opportunity to discover legendary "unique" Pokemon eggs that will appear in the Arena.
