"Under normal circumstances", the provincial agency said in a press release, "the BC Wildfire Service has sufficient staff, aircraft and equipment available to tackle nearly any situation that may arise during the fire season ..."

One of the reasons wild fires seem to be getting worse in B.C.is that fire crews have become so efficient at extinguishing the blazes over the past years, Daniels said.
Dave Scott was at his home Friday outside 100 Mile House when a friend of his, a volunteer firefighter in the area, sent him an ominous text: "Get out now".
"I have heard no discussions about that", said Drysdale.
"As a city boy, I was not prepared", he said.
A Northern California wildfire has destroyed 37 structures, at least some of them homes.
In Santa Barbara County along California's central coast, about 200 people were under evacuation orders because of the so-called Alamo Fire, named after a creek near where it started on Thursday, said Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Kelly Hoover.
The scorching weather comes after California's prolonged drought emergency was declared officially over in April.
A wildfire burning in near Summer Lake in south-central OR has destroyed a hunting cabin and an outbuilding. The fire has burned more than 10,000 acres (4,047 hectares).
Imperial Metals says numerous roads used to access the site have been closed and if critical supplies such as fuel are no longer available, the mine may suspend operations altogether. A path toward Santa Ynez has already burned, which is helping firefighters contain parts of the fire.
"The best thing to do is to look for air that is less smoky, create a clean air shelter in your own home, you can also look for buildings such as libraries, community centres, and shopping malls, and people can self-evacuate out of an area".
Sacramento television station KCRA (http://bit.ly/2val0bv) reports video shot from its helicopter shows at least one structure has been destroyed by the fire.
