GOP governors urge caution on health care changes

Senate Republicans returned to Washington from a holiday recess with new and deepening disagreements about their health-care bill, with key Republicans differing Sunday not merely on how to amend the bill, but also on whether a bill could pass at all.

Senator John McCain said it may now be time for republicans to come up with a new proposal with support from democrats. "That's what democracy is supposed to be all about".

John McCainJohn McCainDems to McConnell: Work with us to stabilize health insurance market Trump: Congress wouldn't "dare" leave without "beautiful" healthcare bill Republicans debate Plan B if ObamaCare repeal fails MORE (R-Ariz.) told CBS on Sunday that the GOP healthcare bill was "probably going to be dead".

Gallup also said there is more uncertainly about the future of health policy since Mr. Trump took office, since he has given mixed signals about how firmly he will enforce the "individual mandate" requiring Americans to hold insurance.

Flexibility for Health Savings Accounts: Another provision that conservatives find appealing, it would offer more flexibility on how people can use HSAs, including using them to pay for premiums. We worked hard to get the money for Visit Florida, Enterprise Florida, the money for schools.

"We don't know what the plan is", said Sen.

For starters, GOP Senate leaders are trying to get conservatives like Kentucky Sen.

Senate Republicans head back to Washington Monday after a week of getting an earful from constituents - either attending town halls or camping out at congressional district offices - who are upset about the GOP health care bill.

Other Republicans, including McConnell, had warned that the BCRA's failure would lead to a deal on subsidies.

The Senate bill keeps intact much of the 2010 Affordable Care Act, former Democratic President Barack Obama's signature legislation, popularly known as Obamacare, but strips away most of its funding.

The South Carolina Senator said that Secretary of State Rex Tillerson's statement that Trump "rightly" focused on how to move past election interference issues was misguided. "We're going to get back with our members starting Tuesday to talk about that".

That gives Congress roughly three weeks before its August recess to overcome internal Republican bickering and Democrat opposition, craft a bill Trump likes, pass both the House and Senate, and get it to the president for his signature.

The Senate confirmation hearing for Federal Bureau of Investigation nominee Chris Wray is likely to draw much attention this week.

The explosive story promises to heighten the controversy over the collusion allegations and the President's meeting with Putin, which have hung over the White House's policy efforts. But it also comes after Trump talked to Russian President Vladimir Putin about his country's alleged interference in the United States elections when they met last week.

Also, the House will face pressure to take up a Russian Federation sanctions bill that got stalled over a procedural issue in the days before Trump's bilateral meeting with Putin. Yet conservatives, not ruling out the bill's passage, spent the weekend talking up another backup plan. Republicans denied that was their intent, insisting that the "blue slip" violation, which mandates that bills generating revenue begin in the House, had to be addressed first.

Finally, the Senate armed services committee will hold a hearing Thursday examining allegations Moscow orchestrated a failed coup attempt in Montenegro previous year.
