Four Halo games being added to back-compat list, Halo 5 getting 4K upgrade
Today however, they have confirmed that Halo 5 will indeed receive support to run in 4K on the Xbox One X through a new update that will be released later this year.
Shortly after the announce of the Xbox One X, many Halo fans were quick to note that Halo 5: Guardians was conspicuously absent from the list of games being given the 4K treatment. In all, Halo 3, Halo 3: ODST, Halo 4, and Halo: CE Anniversary will all be added later this year. The studio noted that they weren't quite ready to make the announcement then but are happy to confirm now that Halo 5 will indeed get an update to support true 4K on Microsoft's upcoming console. "We'll have more to share on this front as we get closer to release, so stay tuned", said 343 in a statement.
What are your thoughts on these Halo titles supporting backwards compatibility on the Xbox One later this year?
According to 343, they'll be sharing "more details on the release timing soon".
To top off this news, 343 also announced that every Xbox 360 Halo add-on map pack will be made available for free to everyone so that you'll have everything you need to enjoy the game fully, with online matchmaking or custom games. All will include their original campaigns and multiplayer modes and support for LAN play, including play between Xbox One and Xbox 360 devices. Who wouldn't want to play Halo 2 and 3 in 4K?! That's all we know for right now but more information is on the way.
Called the "Summer Celebration", 343 Industries has some fairly big news pertaining to past Halo installments.
