In a gruesome act, 2008 gang rape and acid attack victim was on Saturday again attacked with acid at her home in Lucknow's Aliganj.
The chief minister's comments came a day after the woman said she was attacked with acid by two unidentified assailants at her hostel in Lucknow's Aliganj area. "In fact a police team was sent immediately at their house to detain them".
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath had gone to meet her at the hospital and assured her security. In December past year, some people threatened to rape her daughter as well.
A woman who survived an alleged gang rape and four separate acid attacks has once again been hit by corrosive liquid, Indian police said yesterday.
The woman was first gang raped in 2008 over some property dispute.
The woman, who can not be named for legal reasons, sustained burn injuries to her face and shoulder and is undergoing treatment at a hospital.
"Ye ghatna sachmuch ghatna hai ya fir ghatna ke naam par kuchh log kewal badnaam karne ki sajish rach rahe hain (Has this attack really happened or are some people hatching a conspiracy to defame the state government)", he said.
The woman, 35, had been receiving round-the-clock police protection because of the previous attacks, which were linked to a property dispute. She was admitted to the trauma centre of the King George's Medical University.
Lakshmi Agarwal, founder of the "Stop Acid Attack" campaign and a victim herself of acid attack, said they were all hopeful when Adityanath met the victim the last time. This time she was forced to drink acid.
Before this attack, two men had attacked her with acid on-board a moving train in March.
ADG Abhay Misra said that the police had been instructed to take prompt action in the case.
According to Stop Acid Attacks, an NGO working with acid attack survivors, the woman was allegedly gangraped in 2009.
Acid attack was made a separate category of crime in 2013 amid growing incidents of revenge on women who spurn sexual advances or reject marriage proposals.
Opposition parties targeted the Yogi Adityanath government for the incident, saying that repeated attacks against the survivor spoke of the failing law and order in the State.
No choice but lethal force in fatal shooting
A previous version of this story incorrectly said no one had left or entered the apartment in the hours before the shooting. Seattle police shared photos of the knives found inside Charleena Lyles' apartment following the shooting.

Gordon Hayward to kick off his free-agency meetings with Heat
The Jazz are the only team that can offer Hayward a five-year maximum contract, which would be worth around $172.3 million. Hayward played for Boston coach Brad Stevens when they both were at Butler , so the Celtics' system should be a good fit.
