Andy Murray's Wimbledon preparations have taken a further blow after it was confirmed the world No. 1 will not play at Hurlingham on Friday.

British duo Andy Murray and Johanna Konta both face a race against time to be fit for their first-round matches at Wimbledon on Monday.

Murray, 30, was forced to withdraw from an exhibition match at the Hurlingham Club due to concerns about his hip and appears to be struggling with the injury.

"Sadly I won't be ready to play at The Hurlingham tomorrow, my hip is still sore and I need to rest it today, and likely tomorrow", Murray said.

Murray claimed he was still finding his feet on grass after two weeks on the clay in Paris but early tournament exits have become a theme for the Brit this year. "If the weather is good I am sure we will practice".

World No.3 Stan Wawrinka - overwhelmed by Nadal in the French Open final - has never reached the last four at Wimbledon and hence he has been seeded fifth. "We have seen that movie over and over".

However, the decision was reportedly called as a precaution, with Murray still plotting to appear in the second match against an as-yet-unnamed opponent on Friday. This is a season in which injury and illness have caused much frustration.

It means Murray will have a maximum of two matches on grass before he begins the defence of his Wimbledon title. I thought a year ago was more hard because in two weeks we didn't finish one practice on our own terms, we were always chased off by the rain.
