North Korea awaits ex-NBAer Rodman visit

Report: Pistons great Dennis Rodman headed to North Korea for another visit

Two North Korean officials further confirmed to CNN host Will Ripley, now in Pyongyang, that Rodman would be arriving sometime Tuesday.

NBA Hall of Famer Dennis Rodman will touch down in North Korea Tuesday, according to CNN.

Malaysian investigative authorities also speculated that Kim Jong Nam's meetings with an American male believed to have links with a US intelligence agency may have been behind North Korea's decision to silence him.

Kim Jong-Nam (pix), the half-brother of North Korean leader Kim Jong-Un, was holding US$120,000 (RM512,000) cash when he was killed at the KLIA2 airport in February, the Asahi Shimbun reports, citing unnamed Malaysian officials close to the investigation.

His last visit came in January 2014, when Rodman and a group of other former NBA players took part in an exhibition basketball game.

A spokesman for a North Korean cultural exchange program told the state-run North Korea News at the time of his West Point talk that if Rodman re-emerges as a "cultural diplomat", he would most "definitely be welcome back to Pyongyang".

Drones are a relatively new addition to North Korea's arsenal.

"If you don't ever want me to go back there again, I won't go back", Rodman said to ESPN in March.

The match was held to celebrate the despotic crackpot's birthday, who Rodman calls a friend.

The unpredictable Trump has offered some mixed messages to Kim Jong Un, saying he would be "honored" to meet him under the right conditions and describing the young leader as "a pretty smart cookie".

Rodman made at least three trips between 2013 and 2014.

Madeline Albright, the US Secretary of State under President Bill Clinton, brought the older Kim a basketball autographed by Michael Jordan during a visit in 2000.

Former NBA basketball player Dennis Rodman, left, gestures to photographers as he prepares to go through immigration at Beijing Capital International Airport in Beijing, Tuesday, June 13, 2017. Rodman was a cast member on two seasons of Trump's "Celebrity Apprentice".

The colourful sportsman sang Happy Birthday to the leader, but his side were defeated by the North Koreans. The objective of his visit is unknown.
