Subaru BRZ STI hinted in preview image

2018 Subaru BRZ STi Will Only Look The Part

We're looking at the very same rear wing seen only last week when our spies caught on camera a near-production prototype of BRZ upgraded by the skilled engineers at Subaru Tecnica International.

Exact details are still under wraps, but Subaru hints the new vehicle will have a carbon fibre roof, a larger rear wing and Bilstien suspension bits, plus "gearing and engine upgrades", to name just a few of the tweaks.

Rumours about the car's production were all but confirmed via Subaru US Twitter account which tweeted a picture of what is believe to be the BRZ STI.

According to Road & Track, the mysterious model will be known as the WRX STI Type RA, which revives a nameplate of a Japanese-market WRX in 1993. Official details are scarce at this point, but expect STI to fine-tune the suspension, handling, and chassis to make the coupe more agile around the corners.

Would a BRZ STI with a 300-hp turbo engine be unbelievable? I'd be really disappointed if we don't see Gazoo Racing not only on our sports cars, but also on our core models. Subaru is shooting to break the four-door-sedan lap record on the 'Ring this summer. There's more announcements coming from Subaru. Subaru introduced an exclusive 2013 WRX STI tS TYPE RA.

Subaru confirmed to AutoGuide that it will unveil two different performance variants on June 8.

As of the moment, there is not much specs to go on regarding the upcoming Type RA.
