What are the most misspelled words in every state?

"She gave me a few good tips on how to spell words you've never heard of before based on language pattterns and root words".

The spellers range in age from 6 to 15 and include Edith Fuller, a 6-year-old kindergarten student from Tulsa, Okla. Edith was just 5 years old when she qualified for the national competition, making her the youngster-ever speller.

"There wasn't this pipeline or anything like that. And so far, she's having fun", Scripps said in a statement.

Rebekah Zeigler is competing in her third Scripps National Spelling Bee today in Washington, D.C.

A sixth-grader is hoping her third time is the charm. "That was maybe a time when it was more like anyone's game".

Zheng said his most hard question was a multiple-choice question about the word "gaufrette" - a slice of potato cut to look like a waffle and then fried.

The parents of Kelly Mills, 13, a seventh-grader from West Virginia competing at this year's bee, spent $110 for a half-hour session with Lamontagne.

These kids have a way with words! The top 50 spellers of that round will advance to Thursday's final on ESPN2 from 9 a.m.to 1 p.m. and on ESPN from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. Her dad and her mom, Annie Fuller, have been using study materials provided by Scripps to help Edith prepare. But she knows her experience is an advantage.

Hanna called going to the Bee a "great opportunity" and had words of encouragement for anyone who's considering trying out: "I encourage you to do anything- even to pursue any of your dreams".

A new map from Google Trends shows what word each state searched for the most with the words "how to spell". Not all of the 291 spellers in the bee are that dedicated. Mira fell just short of advancing from the preliminary rounds previous year and wants to improve on that.

Wisconsin may have been the only state this year where the top searched word was the name of the state itself, but last year that honor went to MA (this year the Bay State had trouble with the word "license"). "It's been very exhausting".
