I am only thinking about Serbia not Crystal Palace says Wales manager Chris Coleman

Coleman, who made over 150 appearances for Palace between 1991 and 1995, has recently been touted as a replacement for the recently departed Sam Allardyce, who quit the role on Tuesday.

He was quoted as saying by Sky Sports: "I had a good time at the Palace but I'm only thinking about Serbia".

"It wouldn't look very good now if I did jump ship before we go back to Serbia, " Coleman said.

That game is on June 11 and Coleman has named seven uncapped players in a 26-man squad to prepare for a training camp in Portugal.

Coleman will trim his squad down to 23 players prior to the trip to Belgrade.

But a testing 2018 World Cup qualifying campaign has cast doubt over the former Fulham manager's Wales future.

"I am glad he has done it and I think he will be better for it".

"I don't think about after Serbia".

"All I am interested in is Wales and Serbia", he added.

"There's nothing we can do with Paul, who's decided that global football is not the path he wants to go down". It's about making sure our boys perform like they have been.

"Points-wise it's not unbridgeable, performance-wise we're not far off where we need to be - whether we've got Gareth or not".

Wales manager Coleman said: "He doesn't want to play global football, which is a disappointment from our point of view".

"It is a game I am really looking forward to".

"But I am not ready to tell the FAW [Football Association of Wales] or ring my players up and say 'Thanks for that'".

"People will say, 'What can happen here?'".

"We dealt with that disappointment a while ago now - we once went to Belgium without Gareth Bale and got a great result with Aaron Ramsey running the show".

"We've done it in the past, so why can't we do it again?"

Neil Taylor is also suspended for the red-card challenge in March which left Republic of Ireland skipper Seamus Coleman with a double leg fracture, while the injured James Collins and Andy King are also missing.

Liverpool duo Harry Wilson and Ben Woodburn are included, as are Exeter City's 16-year-old defender Ethan Ampadu and promising Barnsley winger Marley Watkins.

Woodburn is joined in the squad by Liverpool team-mate Harry Wilson, Wales' youngest ever worldwide player.

"Sometimes you have to be patient, especially because the team we have at the moment has been hugely successful", said Coleman.
