Tom Cruise says Top Gun 2 is 'definitely happening'
The 54-year-old actor says the long-discussed sequel to "Top Gun" is a sure thing and should start shooting soon. While promoting his upcoming movie The Mummy on Australia's morning program, Sunrise, Cruise dropped the shocking news in top form.
"It's true", he said. Rest assured, he wants everyone to know "it is definitely happening".
Cruise is now on the promotion trail for his new movie The Mummy. "It is definitely happening. you're the first people that I've said this to".
Hollywood superstar Tom Cruise revealed Wednesday he plans a sequel to the cult action film Top Gun, with filming set to begin next year.
Cruise played the cocky pilot Maverick in "Top Gun", one of the top students in an US training camp for elite military fighter pilots and engaged in a bitter rivalry with a fellow pilot played by Val Kilmer.
Top Gun was directed by Tony Scott and also starred Kelly McGillis, Anthony Edwards and Tom Skerritt.
"Top Gun" celebrated its 31st anniversary in the U.S. May 16.
