This weekend's episode of Saturday Night Live (SNL) boasted the final new broadcasting of the sketch comedy program's most-watched season. But even as that good news was still sinking in, word has been emerging that not one but two longtime cast members will be saying goodbye and moving on in their careers.
Sasheer Zamata is exiting Saturday Night Live, EW has learned.
Zamata was recruited by Lorne Michaels after the show faced backlash over the lack of diversity in casting. She took to Instagram, posting a photo of her on stage with Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, Kate McKinnon, Scarlett Johansson, and musical guest Katy Perry, among others.
"Wow", she wrote, "what a fantastic end to a fantastic season". She said her tenure has been a dream come true.
Moynihan, who spent nine seasons on the show, had a particularly pressing though not surprising reason to leave: CBS has officially picked up his single-camera sitcom pilot Me, Myself and I, which will begin airing in the fall. Zamata even played current Bachelorette Rachel Lindsay in a recent SNL parody of the ABC reality series that was cut from the show due to time, but has since been posted on YouTube.
