Ducks top goal-scorer Rickard Rakell misses Gm 5 with injury

22 May 2017, 03:28 | Nina Perez

It's the most any visiting goalie has ever recorded against the Ducks.

In a game that nasty, dirty, gritty and intense, you can't say (at least with a straight face) that either team didn't show up.

"I feel bad for the guy", said Ducks defenceman Hampus Lindholm.

It was Aberg's first goal. There were quite a few missed on the other side as well, so it did even out. It seemed like everyone on the ice was holding a grudge, if not a death wish. But as the day wore on, the injuries kept mounting with Nashvilles Mike Fisher and Anaheims Rickard Rakell also missing the game. "I lost my tooth, but it didn't hurt me".

The Predators returned home with a 3-2 Western Conference finals lead after a 3-1 victory over the Ducks in Anaheim on Saturday led by Rinne, who is 7-3 in the Honda Center in the postseason.

Anaheim players suffered some injuries.

"At some point, Ryan sustained an injury, was able to make it through the game", Predators coach Peter Laviolette said.

"Jonathan Quick's numbers against Nashville, in Nashville, have never been great and that's the game Jonathan Bernier always got", Payne said.

In the end, Nashville's depth was better than Anaheim's.

Playoff-winning teams are often made by their ability to score up and down the lineup.

"Pontus has been playing really well through the course of the year".

Injuries have become a huge story in this series - for both teams. Not that anyone was making excuses. "That's for sure. We've proven that time after time", Bieksa said. "You look at their line-up, they're depleted as well".

If these players don't play in game six the NHL Playoffs 207 may be over for the Anaheim Ducks. It came off the stick of Chris Wagner.

Two days later, the Predators took a 2-1 lead.

Nashville trailed 1-0 in each of its three wins in the series.

Getzlaf has scored 18 points in 16 playoff games during one of the best postseasons of his National Hockey League career, but he has been held scoreless in six of the Ducks' past seven games, including Game 5. In the third period, Nashville kept pouring it on. The 23-year-old has yet to record a point in one regular-season game this season and two playoff contests.

Austin Watson scored an empty-net goal with:48 seconds remaining in the third.

When asked about the onus to do more in Johansen's absence, Forsberg took the opportunity to praise teammates Aberg and Frederick Gaudreau, who was recalled from the American Hockey League to fill Fisher's spot centering the second line and power-play unit. "We've got to do a better job maintaining what we want to do with our game plan, because they played hard tonight".
