Trump adviser to leave the White House

Trump Adviser Sebastian Gorka White House

CNN senior White House correspondent Jim Acosta later tweeted that he had confirmed the report.

A White House spokesman did not immediately return the Daily News' request for comment on Gorka's job status.

Gorka, who doesn't appear to do a whole lot within the administration, is allegedly an expert in counterterrorism, and that's where his services will theoretically be applied. Many political reporters might not have been watching the Pennsylvania event with the President, as some were instead back at the White House Correspondent's Dinner in Washington - and Mr. Trump was very happy to throw a few jabs at the news media - and remind everyone that he was not going to the event.

"Gorka does not have much of a reputation in serious academic or policymaking circles", Stephen Walt, a professor of global affairs at Harvard's Kennedy School of Government, told Business Insider's Pamela Engel.

Steve Bannon, Trump's chief strategist, was moved off the NSC's principals committee after officials said his efforts to "de-operationalize" the council had ended. The new position, the report added, "will not be at the State Department".

Pamela Engel and Sonam Sheth contributed reporting to this story.

"Sebastian Gorka, a controversial national security aide in the White House, is expected to leave his job, several administration officials confirm to CNN", CNN's Jim Acosta and Eric Bradner wrote on Sunday.

[The source] said Gorka's role has always been unclear and said Gorka never had national security issues in his portfolio.

The Washington Examiner first reported Gorka's expected departure.

A senior official told the outlet that he will be appointed to an undisclosed federal agency following his stint with the Strategic Initiatives Group, which is an internal White House organization that works out of the West Wing.

The Forward on Thursday said Gorka was a formal member of the far-right group Historical Vit├ęzi Rend.

Despite his lack of a security clearance, Gorka has served as a prominent Trump surrogate on cable news, accusing critics of promoting "fake news" and touting that with Trump's election, "there's a new sheriff in town".
