Fox News co-president Bill Shine recently asked Rupert Murdoch's sons to release a statement in support of him after the network's star Bill O'Reilly was sacked over sexual harassment allegations, but they declined, according to New York Magazine's Gabe Sherman.

Shine joined Fox News at its inception in 1996 and served as Hannity's producer on Hannity and Colmes before rising through the ranks to become co-president of the network past year.

"Gabe i pray this is NOT true because if it is, that's the total end of the FNC as we know it", declared Hannity on Twitter. "I think the rank and file believe he will be replaced, but who knows?" this person said.

April, which is recognized as Sexual Harassment Awareness Month, has been tumultuous for Fox News. Fox News did not immediately respond to TheWrap's request for additional comment. Earlier this week, 21st Century Fox executive chairman Rupert Murdoch was spotted taking both Shine and Fox News' other co-president Jack Abernethy, to lunch at Maera, a popular Central Park South eatery, a move that was seen as an attempt to show support to the two executives. A shake-up with Fox News is something that would definitely impact Hannity, of course.

Hannity was referring to rumors that Bill Shine, the network's co-president, is concerned about his future at the network.

Shine took over as co-president of Fox News Channel with Jack Abernethy a year ago after longtime chief Roger Ailes stepped down amid claims of sexual harassment.

Shine denied asking for a statement, through a spokesperson, according to Sherman.

The billion-dollar question hanging over Fox News is who knew what, and when. He also portrayed Shine, a longtime friend of Hannity's and his former producer, as an essential member of Fox News, and said the network would "end" without him. "Done. Best Sean", he wrote on Twitter, later apologizing for the typo. A person familiar with the matter suggested the company viewed him as an important part of the current Fox News executive team.
