Door will soon close on Adrian Peterson and Packers rumors

The NFL Network reported that the sides are close to an agreement and that Peterson would receive more than $3 million to play next season. The Advocate indicates negotiations are on-going.

Peterson, 31, spent the first 10 years of his career with the Minnesota Vikings.

Mark Ingram, New Orleans' top running back, eclipsed 1,000 rushing yards in 2016, becoming the first Saints player to achieve that feat since Deuce McAllister in 2006.

The Vikings signed Long last October after they had lost tackles Matt Kalil and Andre Smith to season-ending injuries. He's not someone I plan on drafting in the majority of leagues. While he never won a Super Bowl with the Vikings, he will go down as the greatest running back in Vikings franchise history. While he still remains unsigned, it's looking more and more likely that New Orleans is the likely destination. Despite his almost 12,000 career rushing yards and 97 rushing touchdowns, he would amount to a bit piece for Drew Brees to play with. Hightower produced 100-yard games in each of the past two years while Ingram was either injured or temporarily benched.

If not, the Saints will likely give Peterson a chance to prove his one talent in Sean Payton's offense.

The following week, a motivated Ingram had an fantastic game with 18 carries for 90 yards and two touchdowns against Tampa Bay, so hopefully he feels the same way now that Peterson could be added to the roster.

Butler has been a target of the Saints, visiting with New Orleans last month.

The Vikings moved on from the 32-year-old running back this offseason, instead signing former Raider Latavius Murray. He signed with the San Francisco 49ers last week.
